Legal Mumbo Jumbo
No one likes to talk about legal stuff. Even lawyers want to get paid a lot of money before they are willing to talk about anything. And they chose that profession.
But, it is necessary, and it is also good that you know exactly what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.
But first a few obligated statements:
This is a link to our “Terms of Service”. It is terribly dry stuff but you are advised to read them since booking a tour with us automatically means you agree with them.
This is a link to our “Privacy policy” It basically tells you that we are nice guys and we will not use your personal information in any way that is un-ethical or dishonest.
This is a link to our “cookie policy”. Cookies are tiny bits of information that our website places on your computer to make things work smoothly.
Our Terms of Service made understandable for normal people.
Booking
A booking is considered to be made when the mail form on our contact-page is filled out completely (check the box "Book now"), and a 10% deposit has been received by us.
(After sending in the mail form you will receive an e-mail with all necessary information)
Confirmed
There is no "minimum number of participants". The moment a tour has been booked it will be executed. Even with only 1 participant.
Flight
The moment your tour-booking is confirmed, you should book your flight to Madrid, Spain. The flight is not included in the tour package.
The arrival date should be the same as the tour start date, before 8:00 pm (20:00 hours).
If you cannot arrive on that date, let us know at least a week before you arrive so we can make other arrangements.
You should always let us know your arrival date, time, departure-airport and flight number well in advance.
Payment
8 weeks before the start date of the tour you must have paid the entire tour price.

Arrival
Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airport by someone who has a clearly visible sign with our logo. You will be taken to your hotel in Madrid where you can relax and/or explore the city.
Included
The self-guided tour package includes the following: Motorcycle, Hotels if booked (or campsites), SatNav loaded with all needed routes, Road-book, Transfer from and to the airport, Emergency assistance.
The guided tour package includes the following: Motorcycle, Hotels (or campsites), Guide on motorcycle, SatNav loaded with all needed routes, Road-book, Transfer from and to the airport, Emergency assistance.
The group-tour package includes the following: Motorcycle, Hotels, Guide on motorcycle, SatNav loaded with all needed routes, Road-book, Transfer from and to the airport, Emergency assistance.
Insurance
The motorcycle is insured against accidents, theft, and damage. You can chose the level of your “own risk” (also known as “excess” or "deductible").
Cancellation
If you have purchased the advised travel insurance, a cancellation clause, that covers 100% of your expenses, is included in case of sickness or worse. A cancelation from our side due to bankruptcy or other financial inability is also covered.
Responsibility waver
Before you receive your motorcycle you must sign a responsibility waver in which you agree that Motorcycle Touring Europe cannot be hold responsible for any accidents, illnesses, loss of luggage, theft or damage to goods.
Legal requirements
All participants that ride a motorcycle must:
- Have a valid motorcycle driving license that was issued at least 3 years ago.
- Have an international driving permit.
- Be at least 25 years old.
All participants (riders and passengers) must:
- Have a passport that upon entering Spain is still at least 6 months valid.
Attention: Tourists from certain countries need a tourist visa. If you are unsure, ask us.
Medical
There are no special medical considerations though some tours will go up to heights that can cause altitude-sickness. Treatment is simply "going down" to lower altitudes.
Safety and Security
Spain, and Europe in general, is a safe place.
Statistically it is many times safer than the USA: Spain has 0.6 murders per 100,000 people, whereas the USA has 6.3 murders per 100,000. That is ten times higher. In terms of robberies, the USA has 314 per 100,000 people, while Spain has 129 per 100,000, so less than half.
Traffic wise Spain is also considerably safer than the USA with 19 to 47 accidents per 10,000 people.
Luggage
All motorcycles are equipped with a set of panniers (2 side and 1 top). Luggage that you can not, or don’t want to, take with you can be safely stored with us, free of charge. Luggage you store with us must be properly packed.
Motorcycles
The motorcycle is yours for the duration of the tour. Naturally there are some limitation as what you are allowed to do with it. These are outlined in the “terms of service”, but in short, don’t do anything you would not do with your own motorcycle and you’ll be fine.
Tour price
The tour price depends on the choice of motorcycle and the chosen “deductible” for the theft and damage insurance.
The listed prices are therefore a, pretty accurate, indication. At the moment of booking we will give you the available options and their final price, for you to decide.
Security deposit
A security deposit equal to the chosen “deductible” is required for the motorcycle. This will be refunded after returning the motorcycle in proper condition.
